Simply the Sims: Maternity Photos

Simply the Sims: Maternity Photos

A few weeks back I shared with you Where to Start as far as planning for and finding a maternity photographer, I then shared how to prep for that photoshoot as well. I’m happy to say that we have completed our maternity photo session and since then have received the photos back from our amazing photographer and I already had prints made which have already been placed in frames throughout out home and in Baby Sims nursery.

So how did it go? The shoot went great and we were lucky enough to have great lighting for a cold February day. My photographer, Candice is part of the husband and wife team of Lamarand Style Photography. You should really check out their website by clicking here and visiting their Facebook page by clicking here. Candice was a pleasure to work with and she was super laid back and chill. She made sure that we were comfortable and spent some time with Hank and Vinny too. She was very patient while working with the dogs, especially Hank who just wanted to give her a bunch of kisses. Candice also made sure that we got the type of pictures we wanted and was more than great at making sure the angle was good for us and that we didn’t look too crazy.

I’ll share some of my favorites with you all.

Please do not alter these photos in anyway and all photo credit goes to Candice with www.lamarandstyle.com

Simply the Sims: Baby Shower

A few weeks ago we had our baby shower for Baby Sims to bee. It was a cold February Sunday but it was a relaxing day. It was great seeing friends and family celebrate our future babee to bee. I actually started thinking about themes and so forth for the baby shower quite early on, before we knew the gender of the baby. As soon as I saw honey bee’s I was hooked and I went with it. We kept things simple and fun. We had onesie and bib decorating, guessing how many honeycombs were in a jar and of course my favorite which was guessing how big my belly was. It was quite funny how long some strings were guessing my belly. Don’t worry ladies I did not take offense.

We had lots of food and a great cookie and cupcake table. One of my dearest friends made the cupcakes and I must say they were simply AMAZING. Of course we had plenty left over and I did indulge in more cupcakes a few days after the shower. My co-workers also got to eat some left over cookies because as always we order too much.

What did we do on our own? Our favors were little honey bears filled with honey (which we hand filled) and we made thank you tags that we attached to the bears along with blueberry flavored honey sticks. Blueberry honey……let’s just say it’s my new best friend. We also made the centerpieces which consisted of luxurious towels and honey lotions, bath and soaps. We also made cards for each guest to fill out, titled Wishes for Babee Sims. It was very heartwarming reading all of the wishes for the baby.

Here are some pictures from our special day for our little bumble bee..

And I guess we should have one of the parents to bee right?

Some News

I was a bit MIA this past summer and early fall. There is a very good reason for that and one I’m extremely excited about and feeling extremely blessed all at the same time. The Simply the Sims family will be expanding this Spring. We aren’t getting another dog (which I secretly would love) rather we are adding a human baby to the Simply the Sims family. Yes – we are expecting and we couldn’t be more excited about it. Hank and Vinny are excited to be older brothers too.

With that – things have been crazy at the Sims household when I would prefer things to be on the more simpler side. I was busy volunteering at the animal shelter all summer and fall, fighting off the first trimester morning sickness and being tired all the time and then the holidays with just wanting to spend some quality time together as a family. When my energy was starting to pick back up again all I wanted to do was complete every little project in the house before baby Sims arrives into this world. What does that mean? It mean’s I’ve been extremely excited because that means I get to plan and organize like crazy with a mix of decorating. What’s not to love? Well besides the point that I can’t do much of it by myself I’ve made the husband get in on all the action. Which he loves so much…haha. When he isn’t watching hockey I’m getting him to do something here or there.

What does this mean for all of you blog readers? Well it means some recipes (which I have been posting), can you tell I’ve been having a sweet tooth craving? It also means some great pregnancy style posts and of course some home updates and maybe some organizing tips ranging from getting the nursery ready, registering, hospital bag prep and even postpartum recovery and more.

Simply the Sims is about too get a bit more crazy but as always we will be living life simply.
