Organized Nursery Dresser

Organized Nursery Dresser

Macklin turned 2 months old yesterday and I can’t believe it. Time is surely flying by and pretty soon I will have to go back to work. Keeping up with the housework and other things have surprising been pretty easy, then again I’m home all day, we shall see what happens when I go back to work. We decided on the Ikea dresser shown above to be our main piece of furniture in the nursery. I didn’t want an actual changing table rather something that would grow as Macklin grew. I love that we have so many drawers and the surface is super easy to wipe down as well. One of my favorite things about this dresser is the drawer pulls which are numbered. I love them because one they are super cute and they are a great blue color for our little man. However, they serve two main purposes besides looking cute. The first being that they can be educationally for Macklin as he gets older, learning his numbers and we can organize  his things based on a drawer number so he knows where to find something. I can already foresee in our future….”Mom, wear are my socks?!”……”drawer #2″. They are actually serving as that purpose right now, mostly for my husband and family members if they are helping out. If they need to get something for Macklin and it’s in the dresser I can easily point them to the correct drawer.

It’s been 2 months since I first organized the dresser and I just guessed where I would place items, not knowing if it would work for us. I pleased to say that it really is working out for us. So what’s in these drawers?

#1: DIAPERS – enough side

#2: Grooming and Health items, brushes, nail slippers, medicines, etc.

#3: Socks, mittens, hats

#4: BIBS

#5 & 6: Onesies (in current size), sleepers, swaddlers and trash bags for diaper pail.

# 7 & 8: burps cloths and all bath time towels

The last bottom drawers hold extra supplies for now like wipes and thicker blankets that we aren’t using just yet. These photos were taken about 3 months ago and the only changes is that instead of size 1 diapers in drawer #1 we have size 2’s. If I were too take a picture today they would look the same.

Month 1 to 2: Favorite Products

Month 1 to 2: Favorite Products

Hello Again! The other day I shared our favorite products we used for the first 4 weeks Macklin was born. If you missed the post you can find it by clicking here. In conjunction with the products already shared, I will be sharing some products we have also come to love during weeks 4 to 8, I hope you enjoy 🙂

1. Ju-Ju-Be, BFF Diaper Bag (click here): I love this diaper bag! After Macklin was about 5-6 weeks old I felt more comfortable leaving home and when you leave home you need your diaper bag so we have been getting great use out of it so far. I love this diaper bag for a number of reasons, not only is it super cute but extremely functional. This bag can be worn two ways, using the shoulder strap or as a backpack. I mostly wear it as a back pack and the straps are very comfortable and have great padding. The changing pad that is provided is located in the back and is made with memory foam and is super comfortable. The fabric is durable and washable as well as lots and lots of space for diapers, wipes, blankets, extra clothes and anything else. There is a small pocket in the front that we have been putting the pacifier in so you can easily get that pacifier out in the time of need. There are also two outside pockets for bottles and another exterior pocket that I have used to put  my keys and wallet so I can go without a purse.

2. Babyganics, fragrance free stain and odor remover (click here): Well hello spit-up and other stains that I’m not going to mention! Boy have you arrived during the first month going onto month 2. This stain remover is AMAZING and has gotten rid of anything on the baby clothes and even our clothes. No need to say more. I love this stuff.

3. Little Remedies, Little Tummys, Gas Reliefs Drops (click here): This has been a life saver. Our little guy tends to get hiccups several times throughout the day and despite being good at burping he still gets a little discomfort in his tummy. One of my girlfriends told me about the gas drops and I’m so happy she did. These came in handy when we had a crying session that lasted about 4 hours. The gas drops work almost instantly in conjunction with laying your baby on their tummy against your chest. Any future baby showers I go to will include this in the present.

4. Britax Stroller Organizer (click here): Now that the weather has been nice the hubby and I have been able to take daily stroller walks with the little guy. We have a Britax stroller which I love (super lightweight) and we have this organizer for the stroller as well. There is space for 2 cups and the middle section has a magnetic cover. I tend to put our cell phone, keys and pacifier in the middle section. I’m so happy we got this organizer.

The First Weeks: Favorite Products

The First Weeks: Favorite Products

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to blog but I’m hoping to get back into it. Being a first time Mom is taking up a lot of time but I’m starting to get my groove back as far as getting lots of things done but still spending time taking care of my little man. I can’t believe that it’s already June which means my maternity leave is over at the end of the month. Macklin is almost 2 months old! I can’t believe it! I’m sure there are tons of lists and articles to read as far as what baby products to get and which are the best.

Here are some of my favorite products we used the first 4 weeks:

1. Aden by Aden, Muslin Swaddle Plus (click here): These cloths are AMAZING! Not only are they so adorable and come in many prints and colors the muslin is super soft as well. The blankets are very large so there are a number of different uses for them. Although the material isn’t super thick they still keep your little baby nice and warm. During the first few weeks we have using these as swaddling blankets. However, I use them to put over the car seat, on the floor for tummy time and most recently folding them up to prop the bottle up so I don’t have to hold the bottle. I just love these blankets!

2. HoMedics; Sound Spa on the Go (click here): We used this thing a lot the first few weeks, so much that we already had to replace the batteries. The on the go Sound Spa is only $9.99 and it’s great! When I was pregnant I would play the sounds close to my belly because I wanted the baby to be familiar with the sounds. We would often play the ocean sounds and Macklin would just fall right asleep. It was especially helpful when he was a bit more fussy. Not only is the Sound Spa very affordable it is super small and you really can take it where ever you go. We haven’t used it as much lately but I still really like it.

3. Ubbi Diaper Pail in Grey (click here): I love this diaper pail! Although it is a little bit more on the high end side ($79.99) I believe it is worth it. This diaper pail is made of steel, not plastic so it does not absorb the nasty smells. The lid is extremely tight and you can’t smell anything gross as long as the lid is closed. Also, you don’t have to purchase the diaper pail bag refills like the Diaper Genie for example. You can just use your regular kitchen garbage bags, which also helps save on money. This diaper pail also comes in many different colors and they also sell decals to add a little something extra to the outside of the pail.

4. Fisher-Price, Rock-N-Play (click here): I knew I was going to use this A LOT and we sure have. Macklin did not sleep in his crib the first month because one I was afraid too,  he seemed to tiny for such a big crib. What I love about the Rock-N-Play is that it is light weight which makes it really easy to bring from room to room and Macklin is super comfortable in it. I felt that he was safe and snug in the Rock-N-Play. During the first 4 weeks we would have the Rock-N-Play next to our bed and we could easily rock it ourselves or use the vibrating function as well. At almost 2 months old Macklin is getting a bit too big for the Rock-N-Play (his little feet are starting to hang over). We used the Rock-N-Play as a bassinet rather than also getting a bassinet.

5. Safety 1st Custom Care Modular Bath Center (click here): Hmm…now this is one product that I have a love hate relationship with. One of the reasons we registered for this particular bath is because it was modular for both a newborn and infant baby. The blue/green insert is to be used in the middle as shown above for infants. For one, it doesn’t stay clicked in place once you have water in the bath and the surface is slippery. Our little dude slides a bit so bath time requires both Mom and Dad present. Now that Macklin is a bit larger he doesn’t slide as much but the insert still does move a bit when water is in the bath. I know that once we use the insert on the end or remove it completely the bath will be just fine. When we have another child I’m not sure if I will want to use this bath again when they are  newborn.
